Christmas in Cotter December 2019

01/07/2020

Christmas in Cotter was a huge success.  The turn-out for the December 21st event was amazing.  Approximately 450-500 people attended this event including about 200 children.  Organizing this event was a challenge achieved by the combined efforts of City of Cotter employees, the Chamber-Gassville Chamber of Commerce, the Saturday Club, American Legion Joe P Joslin, Jr. Post 23-VFW 5742, and the Cotter Volunteer Fire Department & Auxiliary.

The bonfire and S'Mores were provided by Jason and Kammi Nazarenko.  The Cotter School choir and the Tardiff family entertained the crowd with Christmas carols.  Every child had the opportunity to visit with Santa Claus in the gazebo.  Children received a candy cane and a present from Santa Claus assisted by Mrs. Claus and Santa's Elves.

Awards were given for best decorations on Harding Blvd and City-wide.    The McCarthy's won for Harding Blvd, and  the Mason's won the award for the City-wide category.  The Christmas spirit was evident throughout Cotter with 135 homes decorated in celebration of the season.

The entire park was decorated with lights and musical displays to include a decorated firetruck.  The lights were turned on December 1st and were kept lit every night throughout the month so people could enjoy the park throughout the season.
